    The one position …
The one position will give a little less than closed w 31 guard… but more than 000 position alone. Using a detachable blade clipper try the idea with a 1 1/2 blade… thicker rear blade… works great that way.

I like the idea of using a #1 guard with clipper over comb — I always seem to cut too short.

Would using a fully-open adjustable-blade clipper (like my Andis Select Cut) provide me with 1/8-inch of protection?

What about a detachable-blade clipper (sorry I have an Oster Titan) with a #1 blade?]

Try to use the 8 on top and doen the sides just a bit… use the 1 up from below… launch off the curve of the head and you will get a pretty good trnsition to begin with… then blend with comb or a guard of the appropriate in-between length.

    hey quick question, …
hey quick question,, i get a #1 guard on sides and back , and leave an inch on top(scissor cut ),,well its gettin to be costly so i want to do it myself. Im thinkin a #8 guard clipper on top and simple #1 sides & back,, i like my sides skinny and not rounded off,,pretty much a typical buzz cut with an inch on top,,,but how do i fade the sides with top,,,do the #1 and and then run a comb over a clipper on the edge of the #1 into the top…??? typical short haircut just worried aboufade ,,thanks
