A clipper cut done the correct way is a bit harder than you think, especially when working with a client who has hard to work with hair or cowlicks.

To begin this clipper cutting technique for men, comb everything down first to assess the state of the neckline. This it the hardest place to work with, and starting there will let one assess the tapering necessary to get it done right.

Tip: To not go too high on the neckline, style the neckline last.

Our friend and hair artist Mike from Zip Zap Hair in San Francisco teaches you how to do a clipper over comb clipper cutting technique. The most common mistake with this technique is that stylists allow the clippers to run too low across the comb.

Tip: To avoid this mishap, use a flat wide comb in conjunction with the clippers.

Make sure to use have your clients hair stay dry when using clippers, this allows for accurate sculpting, tapering, and a balanced clipper cut without shorter or longer spots.
